Incident at military outpost leaves two injured

An incident at a military base on the northern segment of the line-of-contact (LoC) between de facto Nagorno Karabakh (NK) and Azerbaijan left two servicemen injured. No details were officially provided on the incident, but the two servicemen, Henry Zakaryan and Armen Mesropyan, received gunshot injuries, the former is reported to be in critical condition. The incident was reported by both the NK Defence Ministry as well as the spokesperson for Armenia’s Defence Ministry.

A non-government source, Shamshyan.com, reported that the incident involved three injured, alleging that one serviceman opened fire on two others, then turned the weapon on himself.  As a result of the incident, the source states that two were hospitalised, while one was in critical condition. Information from this latter source was officially dismissed by Armenia’s Defence spokesperson, urging readers to refrain from non-official sources on reporting on military issues.

It is worth noting, that a few days prior to this incident an Armenian serviceman reportedly fell to his death near a military outpost positions on this same segment of  the LoC; through open-source information, NK Observer experts were not able to establish a conection beteween these two incidents.
