Serviceman killed in northeastern Armenia

Ahead of the Aliyev-Sargsyan meeting in Sochi, an Armenian serviceman was killed on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border in northeastern Armenia. The incident happened at a military outpost on the heavily-militarised Armenia-Azerbaijan border. The victim was 19-year-old Chaplin Margaryan from the village of Armavir, who was shot by Azeri troops while renovating part of his military outpost, essentially conducting engineering work according to official sources.

The incident is being investigated by the Armenian military authorities and was possibly coordinated at a time when the leaders of the two sides were to meet in Sochi during the yearly Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) summit.
