First report of serviceman wounded by cross-border fire this year

According to a report from the Nagorno Karabakh Defence Ministry, on 5 April, Armenian serviceman Arayik Shakhpazyan received a gunshot wound at a military position on the eastern segment of the line-of-contact (LoC) with Azerbaijan; he was subsequently transported to a military hospital with a non-life-threatening injury. No further details of the incident were available; Azeri officials have not commented on the incident.

This appears to be the first explicitly-reported incident of an Armenian soldier being wounded by cross-border fire this year on the LoC, it comes just days after an Armenian serviceman received a fatal gunshot wound south of this location in what appear to be non-combat related circumstances.
