OSCE conducts monitoring mission on line of contact “without incidents”

On 13 February, the OSCE conducted a ceasefire monitoring mission along the line of contact between Azerbaijan and Nagorno Karabakh. The monitoring was carried out along a series of military outposts in the region of Göranboy (Azerbaijan) and Martakert (Nagorno Karabakh).

The operation from the Nagorno Karabakh side was conducted by Ognjen Jovic and Ghenadie Petrica, from Bosina and Herzagovina and Moldova respectivally.  On the Azeri side of the line of contact was Mihail Olaru and Simon Tiller, themselves from Moldova and the United Kingdom.

According the official webpages of the Defence Ministries of both Armenia and Azerbaijan, the monitoring mission was concluded without any incidents. Nonetheless, ceasefire violations have been reported by both sides, with the Azerbaijan’s Defence Ministry stating 29 ceasefire violations on the very day of the ceasefire monitoring mission, including in the Goranboy region.

This is the second ceasefire violation monitoring mission conducted by the OSCE this year, the first one was carried out on 15 January.
