On 20 October 2017, two Armenian soldiers were killed by a fellow serviceman, in an incident that is currently being investigated. 19-year-old Aram Khachatryan and 20-year-old Hrach Avetisyan were apparently shot to death by a fellow serviceman at a military outpost in Nagorno Karabakh. The incident happened at around noon on 20 October, when Avetisyan died on the spot, while Khachatryan passed away while being transported to a local military hospital.
Initial reports point to an argument between the culprit and the victims. The suspect, who has not been named for security reasons, has been detained and is part of the investigation by Armenian military authorities in Stepanakert.
