Military Council meeting in Stepanakert to discuss first half of year

Yesterday, a session dedicated to evaluating military achievements, issues and developments during the the first half of the year took place organised by the heads of the Nagorno Karabakh Military Council, headed by Defence minister Maj Gen Karen Abrahamyan.

Maj Gen Abrahamyan in his opening words brief the members of the council and audience on issues related to troop-mobilisation, guard duty at military outposts, developments in coordination between the General staff and operational forces on the ground. Making special mention of large-scale exercises conducted in June. Other areas of interest he discussed were morale, engineering-renovation works at military bases, deficiencies, armament and developments in their use, as well as new techniques.

The ministry’s Chief Inspector highlighted that training and combat-related assignments were carried out successfully and according to the ministry’s pre-determined programme. He stressed that progress has been made in terms of combat-readiness and the welfare of servicemen.

Present at the event were representatives of Armenia’s Defence ministry, notably, the vice-Defence minister Gabriel Balayan. Yerevan and de facto Nagorno Karabakh have signed numerous agreements in the military cooperation realm in the past, which were also discussed during the session.
Plans for further cooperation between Yerevan and Stepanakert appeared to be on the table for the second half of the year.
