OSCE Minsk Group conducts first ceasefire monitoring

Today, the Organisation for Cooperation and Security in Europe’s (OSCE) Minsk Group conducted its first ceasefire monitoring mission on the heavily militarised line-of-contact (LoC) separating de facto Nagorno Karabakh (NK) and Azerbaijan. According to the NK Foreign Ministry, the monitoring took place at military positions northeast of Aghdam, on the central segment of the LoC.

The NK Foreign ministry stated that the monitoring mission on their side was conducted by Minsk Group Field Assistants Ghenadie Petrica (Moldova) and Mihail Olaru (Moldova). While on the Azeri side, the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Ambassador Andrzej Kasprzyk, and OSCE representatives Simon Tiller (Great Britain) and Martin Schuster (Germany) participated in the monitoring.

Azeri Defence officials stated that the incident took place without any major incidents and according to plans.
