OSCE conducts third monitoring mission of the year in Fuzuli-Hadrut segment

On 4 March, the Organisation for Cooperation and Security in Europe’s (OSCE) Minsk Group conducted a ceasefire monitoring mission on the heavily militarised line-of-contact (LoC) separating de facto Nagorno Karabakh (NK) and Azerbaijan. According to the NK Foreign Ministry, the monitoring took place at military positions in northeastern Hadrut region (Nagorno Karabakh) and Fuzuli region (Azerbaijan).

The NK Foreign ministry stated that the monitoring mission on their side was conducted by Minsk Group Field Assistants Martin Schuster (Germany) and Mihail Olaru (Moldova). While on the Azeri side,  OSCE representatives Simon Tiller (Great Britain) and Ghenadie Petrica (Germany) participated in the monitoring.

Azeri Defence officials stated that the incident took place without any major incidents and according to plans.

This is the third ceasefire monitoring mission this year. Following this year’s patterns, less events of the kind have taken place compared with previous years, when normally two monitoring missions were conducted per month.
