Third high-ranking Azeri officials die within 10 days

Third high-ranking Azeri (one retired) officials, including two former deputy defence ministers, reported to have passed away in past 10 days according to official publications by Azerbaijan’s Defence Ministry.
31 July – Major Teymur Jafarov, an officer working at the Emergency Medcine and Anesthesiology Department of the Main Clinical Hospital of the Armed Forces reportedly died of Covid-19.
9 August – retired Lieutenant-General and deputy Defence Minister between 2003-2014, Chengiz Mammadov, was reported to have passed away after a long illness.
10 August – Lieutenant General, ex-Deputy Defence Minister and head of ministry’s logistics until a month ago (20 August 2015- 8 July 2020), Fuad Mammadov, reportedly passed away from heart failure. Replacing Fuad Mammadov, the new acting head of military logistics and deputy Defence Minister is Nizam Osmanov, interestingly, born in Kalinino region in Soviet Armenia.
