Troops from the 5th Military Formation have conducted field exercises with special forces troops at an undisclosed, but commonly used training ground in Armenia. Official reports mention that the exercises are aimed at further developing the efficient and effective use of equipment in difficult terrain and weather conditions.
The 5th Military Formation is one of the biggest in the Armenian Armed Forces, whose members have participated in numerous operations over the years. The current head of the Defence Army of Nagorno Karabakh, Karen Abrahamyan, was head of this unit between 2015-2017, as was Artak Davtyan, the current Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia from 2017-2018.
